About the role
The IT Application Specialist is responsible for the implementation, support, and management of software applications within an organization. This role involves collaborating with various departments to ensure applications meet business needs and function efficiently. The specialist troubleshoots issues, provides technical support, and participates in the continuous improvement of applications and related processes. Key duties include application configuration, testing, deployment, and user training.
 
The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of application architecture, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
 
This role reports to the Engineering Manager, Field and Clinical Applications, and is a hybrid role with a flexible work arrangement out of our Vienna, VA or Raleigh, NC offices.  
 
You Will
  • Develop an extensive working knowledge of the software applications used by MyEyeDr and share knowledge with other team members.
  • Provide software application troubleshooting/training using a variety of delivery methods.
  • Provide end-user application support via a variety of delivery methods (Helix, LogMeIn, TeamViewer, MS Teams, Email, Phone).
  • Troubleshoot issues reported by customers and provide solutions.
  • Develop and maintain the SOPs for application workflows.
  • Develop test scenarios and perform functional, smoke and regression testing of vendor products and products developed by MyEyeDr.
  • Participate with engineering team in testing new releases of the applications.
  • Coordinate and follow up with business leads for application testing.
  • Perform smoke testing and other activities during scheduled and unscheduled production deployments and product upgrades.
  • Support functional team with product configurations
  • Coordinate with Acquisitions/Integrations teams on new user implementation.
  • Coordinate legacy software conversion into MyEyeDr products.
  • Accurately perform data analysis on Legacy Software & Converted results in products used by MyEyeDr.
  • Add and remove employee/location permissions for products used by MyEyeDr.
 
About You 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer science or business-related field, or the equivalent combination of education, experience and skills.  
  • 3+ years of experience overall working with IT business applications and systems in a support role with experience documenting software user needs, maintaining business application configurations, and the use of application reporting tools. 
  • Knowledge of application support principles and best practices.
  • Familiarity with database concepts (from an application perspective).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with other team member effectively 
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio or other workflow documentation tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience in software testing and ability to write the Test cases using the testing tools. 
  • Demonstrated analytical ability to organize, evaluate, and present complex observations.
