As a MyEyeDr. Clinical Field Director (CFD) you will be is primarily responsible for the leadership, management and development of all Optometrists in their geographic area of responsibility. Working directly with the Regional CFD (RCFD) and Clinical Field Manager (CFM), where applicable, the CFD collaborates and coaches the ODs in maintaining superior patient care, maximizing office results in clinical care outcomes and Key Patient Indicators (KPIs) while providing an outstanding patient experience. Focusing on improving proficiency and excellence in skills within the scope of licensure for their reporting OD’s and is responsible for helping achieve strategic and revenue goals from the assigned locations. The CFD will perform these duties on a weekly basis while maintaining Optometric patient care responsibilities in their primary office location along with oversight/responsibility of their primary office location. Through collaboration with the District Manager (DM) and Regional Director (RD), the CFD will work as a significant part of Field Leadership Team in achieving highest levels of patient loyalty and KPI performance and creating a professional work environment that underscores a team commitment to outstanding patient care, overall accountability, professional growth and base business optimization. The CFD influences the highest levels of OD engagement, retention, performance, productivity and highest standards of patient care within the company. The CFD will also work with the RCFD and Vice President, Integrations (VPI) to directly integrate newly acquired ODs and newly acquired offices in their area into MED culture and business practices. 

You Will

  • As a direct report of the RCFD, the CFD leads by example in the supervising of all Optometrists (OD) in their area of responsibility. By providing guidance, support and training in a variety of areas including professional ethics concerns, direct clinical/product training and the overall practice of Optometry, the CFD is the main connection for the ODs within the organization. The CFD will assist the Director/Manager of OD Recruiting in the hiring process of all ODs as directed by the VP of Professional Services/RCFD.

  • The CFD facilitates (at minimum) quarterly OD meetings and is responsible for partnering with the RD and DM in presenting a unified, team approach in current company Key Initiatives, KPI performance, culture and updating the ODs on relevant topics to the practice of Optometry. Attends and participate in all company meetings, functions, webinars, calls and events as directed and assists with all other tasks as directed by the VP of Professional Services and the RCFD.
  • The CFD consistently demonstrates professional behavior and effective communication to imbed the company’s Purpose, Promise and Vision along with strategies to support. The CFD will assist the VP of Professional Services and/or the Area Clinical Field Director in managing Employee Relations issues that arise.
  • The CFD acts with the highest integrity and ensures all ODs follow company policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) as mandated by the Professional Services Department and the regulatory bodies governing optometry within their assigned geographies.
  • Together with the Clinical Field Manager (CFM) and the Professional Services Analyst (PSA), the CFD ensures that all ODs are properly on-boarded and trained in clinical standards of patient care including: EEHR and record maintenance, billing and coding protocols, credentialing, OD schedules and template optimization and maintenance as well as overall office flow, function and efficiency. Maximizing Key Patient Indicator (KPI) performance, including direct focus on My Vision Wellness Journey, ensuring each patient experience exceeds expectations and is reflected monthly in the Net Promoter Score (NPS) and other areas of patient satisfaction.
  • The CFD will assign the CFM areas of focus and identify ODs that require skills remediation or specific coaching for which the CFM is trained and designated to provide.
  • The CFD is responsible for the ongoing performance coaching and development for all ODs within the assigned area of responsibility. This includes monthly/quarterly/annual focus on KPI and office performance including office revenue and contribution.
  • The CFD will have excellent communication with the Regional Director (RD) in setting the tone and expectations of the District Managers (DM) working with the ODs and GMs. This includes strategic travel with the DM as needed to ensure highest level of performance and team building within the office along with base business optimization.
  • The CFD, PSA and DM collaborate and utilize reports and feedback from the Home Office and Business Optimization Team to address and resolve KPI opportunities and OD scheduling/template efficiencies. Working with the DM, the CFD ensures all ODs are aware of COGs impact on office profitability and guides ODs to fit Contact Lens products of choice to improve patient satisfaction/loyalty and overall profitability.
  • The CFD takes the lead with the DMs in ensuring all Optometric equipment is functional and up to the standards for the practice of Optometry.
  • As directed by and in collaboration with the VPI or the RCFD, the CFD will be responsible for outreach to all ODs/Practices joining the company via new integrations as well as the training and development of that integration into the CFD’s market along with their DM partner. The CFD will partner with the PS Integrations and Operational teams in all upcoming and single/multi-office integrations in their area, by creating alignment through welcome meetings, OD template maximization, credentialing assistance and OD On-boarding.
  • With the Optometric Recruiters, the CFD assists in outreach to potential new ODs through Optometric school visits, meetings or site visits. The CFD works with the CFM to oversee OD On-Boarding for all new hire ODs and develops OD engagement and retention through periodic follow-up and office check-ins.
  • With the Communication Center, the CFD resolves any patient concerns as it relates to the delivery of Optometric care and overall office procedures. This includes “On-Call” issues as it relates to urgent patient care.
  • CFD will maintain patient care responsibilities in their primary office location each week and will spend up to 2 “non-clinic” days per week traveling to offices within area of responsibility as needed.
  • KPI attainment in the primary office location along with delivering highest level of performance of company goals and initiatives is essential. This is the same expectation for all offices within the CFD’s area of responsibility.

About You

  • 3-5 years clinical experience within a similar organization, including proven strength as a practicing OD in a high volume, high performance office location. 
  • Leadership within Optometric multi-office management preferred. 
  • High competency in the practice of both medical optometry and the retail/optical aspects of optometric practice. 
  • Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree. 
  • Relevant State TAP Certification (Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents) 
  • Demonstrates leadership through coaching, inspiration, empathy, loyalty and decisiveness. 
  • Proven OneTeam collaboration, effectiveness, and conflict resolution. Business acumen and organizational skills such as time management, delegation, problem-solving, planning, meeting deadlines and prioritization of business needs. 
  • Demonstrates a desire to serve and teach others. Communicates effectively through various channels. Builds and executes effective plans with high degree of attention to detail. 
  • Understands the importance of controlling confidential information with complete discretion. Proficiency regarding the practice of Optometry, including medical and retail aspects. Maintains a high performing clinical practice which models the way for ODs.
